Here's the 2nd clue for our Mystery Blanket CAL in an easy step by step. You can also find two videos for the whole clue at the bottom of this lesson!
Make a magic circle - READ MAGIC CIRCLE - on hook size 3 mm with pink.
MAGIC CIRCLE: Hold yarn end in the left hand and make a loop around left index finger (from left to right). Work sts around the circle and yarn end. When the desired no of sts has been reached, pull the yarn end to tighten the loop.
ROUND 1: 2 ch (replace first htr).
ROUND 1: 5 htr in magic circle
ROUND 1: finish with 1 sl st in 2nd ch = 6 htr in magic circle.
ROUND 2: 2 ch (= 1 htr), 1 htr in same st, 2 htr in every st on round and finish with 1 sl st in 2nd ch - READ COLOUR CHANGE = 12 htr around ring. Cut the yarn.
COLOUR CHANGE:
When changing colour work as follows: Before last pull through of last loop on hook, switch colour, pull the last loop on hook through with the new colour.
ROUND 3: Switch to light turquoise and make 1 ch and 1 dc in same st. * 3 ch, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in first ch on round = 6 ch-spaces.
ROUND 4: 1 ch, work around ch-space *1 dc, 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 dc *, repeat around each ch-space and finish with 1 sl st in first ch - READ COLOUR CHANGE.
= 6 leaves. Cut the yarn.
ROUND 5: Switch to turquoise, 1 ch, work in every leaf as follows: * 1 dc in dc, 1 htr in htr, (2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) in tr, 1 htr in htr and 1 dc in dc *. Finish with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.
= 6 leaves. Cut the yarn.
The flower is done. Now work the square:
ROUND 1: Switch to white and turn piece and work on WS. Work 1 sl st around dc from 3rd round of flower. *4 ch, 1 sl st around the next dc from 3rd round of flower *, repeat *-* and finish with 1 sl st in first sl st on round = 6 ch-spaces.
ROUND 2: Turn piece, from RS 1 sl st in first ch-space, 3 ch (= 1 tr), 3 tr in same ch-space, * (2 tr, 2 ch, 4 tr) in next ch-space, (4 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) in next ch-space *, 4 tr in next ch-space repeat from *-* 1 more time, and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. = 32 tr, 4 ch-spaces.
ROUND 3: 3 ch (= 1 tr), work 1 tr in every tr until 2 ch-loop in each corner, work (2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) in each corner around the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round = 48 tr, 4 ch-spaces.
ROUND 4: 3 ch (= 1 tr), 1 tr in next tr, * 1 tr through the 2 ch-loops on leaf in round 5 of flower and in next tr from round 3 of square .
ROUND 4: The flower and the square are worked together.
Complete description of ROUND 4: 3 ch (= 1 tr), 1 tr in next tr, * 1 tr through the 2 ch-loops on leaf in round 5 of flower and in next tr from round 3 of square, 1 tr in next 5 tr, (2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) around ch-space in corner, 1 tr in next tr, 1 tr through the 2 ch-loops on next leaf in round 5 of flower and in next tr from round 3 of square, 1 tr in next 8 tr, 1 tr through the 2 ch-loops on next leaf in round 5 of flower and in next tr from round 3 of square, 1 tr in next tr, (2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) around ch-space in corner *, 1 tr in next 6 tr and then repeat from *-* 1 more time and finish with 1 tr in last 4 tr on round and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 64 tr, 4 ch-spaces.
ROUND 5: 1 ch (= 1 dc), skip 1st tr, work 1 dc in every tr until 2 ch-loop in each corner, work (1 dc, 1 htr, 1 dc) in each corner around entire round. Finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round = 72 dc and 4 htr around entire square. Cut the yarn.
Back:
One Buttercup flower square finished, measuring ca 9,5 x 9,5 cm. Fasten off and work 5 squares in total the same way in the same colours - or use the colours you like.
