---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: On every round with double crochets replace first double crochet with 3 chain stitches, i.e. skip 1st stitch on previous row. STRIPES FRONT/BACK PIECE: Work stripes top down as follows: 9½-9½-10-10-11-11 cm = 3¾"-3¾"-4"-4"-4⅜"-4⅜" (measured from cast-on edge) with 1 strand light grey + 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands) 9½-9½-10-10-11-11 cm = 3¾"-3¾"-4"-4"-4⅜"-4⅜" with 1 strand light pearl grey + 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands). 9½-9½-10-10-11-11 cm = 3¾"-3¾"-4"-4"-4⅜"-4⅜" with 1 strand rust + 1 strand light grey (= 2 strands). 9½-9½-10-10-11-11 cm = 3¾"-3¾"-4"-4"-4⅜"-4⅜" with 1 strand rust + 1 strand tomato (= 2 strands) 9½-9½-10-10-11-11 cm = 3¾"-3¾"-4"-4"-4⅜"-4⅜" with 1 strand tomato + 1 strand light pearl grey (= 2 strands). Then work with 1 strand light pearl grey + 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands) until finished measurements. STRIPES SLEEVE: Work stripes top down as follows: 9½ cm = 3¾" with 1 strand light pearl grey + 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands). 9½ cm = 3¾" with 1 strand rust + 1 strand light grey (= 2 strands). 9½ cm = 3¾" with 1 strand rust + 1 strand tomato (= 2 strands) 9½ cm = 3¾" with 1 strand tomato + 1 strand light pearl grey (= 2 strands). Then work with 1 strand light pearl grey + 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands) until finished measurements. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Work 1 double crochet but wait with last yarn over and pull through, work 1 double crochet more the same way. Make 1 yarn over and pull through all loops on hook(= 1 double crochet decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work piece back and forth in parts, top down and sew together when finished. Work the sleeves from armhole back and forth, top down and sew together when finished. LEFT SHOULDER BACK (when garment is worn): Work 18-20-20-22-25-28 chain stitches – read CHAIN STITCH, on hook size 5 mm = US H/8 with 1 strand light grey and 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands). Turn and work 1 double crochet in 4th chain stitch from hook (= 2 double crochets) - read CROCHET INFORMATION, work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch the entire row = 16-18-18-20-23-26 double crochets. Continue with 1 double croshet in each double crochet. When 2 rows have been worked, increase 1 double crochet at beginning of next row from neck (increase by working 2 double crochets in same double crochet), work the rest of row = 17-19-19-21-24-27 double crochets. Cut the yarn. RIGHT SHOULDER BACK (when garment is worn): Work 18-20-20-22-25-28 chain stitches on hook size 5 mm = US H/8 with 1 strand light grey and 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands). Turn and work 1 double crochet in 4th chain stitch from hook (= 2 double crochets) - remember CROCHET INFORMATION, work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch the entire row = 16-18-18-20-23-26 double crochets. Continue with 1 double croshet in each double crochet. When 2 rows have been worked, increase 1 double crochet at the end of next row for neck (increase by working 2 double crochets in same double crochet = 17-19-19-21-24-27 double crochets. Finish with 20-20-22-22-24-24 chain stitches for neck and fasten it to left shoulder with 1 slip stitch in neck. Cut the yarn. BACK PIECE: Work next row as follows (right side): Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet, work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch and 1 double crochet in every double crochet the entire row = 54-58-60-64-72-78 double crochets. Then work double stitches and STRIPES FRONT/BACK PIECE - read explanation above. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When piece measures 17-18-19-20-21-22 cm = 6¾"-7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾", cast on new chain stitches in each side for armholes. Cut the yarn. Insert 1 marker in the middle of this row - NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE. Work 3-3-5-7-7-8 loose chain stitches for armhole, work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and work 3-3-5-7-7-8 loose chain stitches for armhole = 60-64-70-78-86-94 stitches. Now work 1 double crochet in every double crochet/chain stitch until piece measures 39-40-41-42-43-44 cm = 15¼"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½"-17"-17¼" from marker. Cut and fasten the yarn. LEFT SHOULDER FRONT (when garment is worn): Work 18-20-20-22-25-28 chain stitches on hook size 5 mm = US H/8 with 1 strand light grey and 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands). Turn and work 1 double crochet in 4th chain stitch from hook (= 2 double crochets) - read CROCHET INFORMATION, work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch the entire row = 16-18-18-20-23-26 double crochets. Continue with 1 double croshet in each double crochet. When 3-3-3-5-5-5 rows have been worked, increase 1 double crochet at the beginning of next row for neck (increase by working 2 double crochets in same double crochet). Repeat increase towards the neck on the next 2-2-2-2-1-1 rows = 19-21-21-23-25-28 double crochets. Cut the yarn. Repeat increase towards the neck on the next 2-2-2-2-1-1 rows = 19-21-21-23-25-28 double crochets. Finish with 16-16-18-18-22-22 chain stitches for neck and fasten it to left shoulder with 1 slip stitch in neck. Cut the yarn. FRONT PIECE: Work the same way as on BACK PIECE but begin next row from wrong side. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams with same color as cast-on edge - sew in outer loops of edge stitches to get a flat seam. SLEEVE: Work back and forth, begin from armhole and down to sleeve edge. Work 48-50-54-56-58-62 double crochets evenly around outermost double crochet row along the entire armhole (but not over chain stitches cast on on each side on front and back piece) on hook size 5 mm = US H/8 with 1 strand light grey and 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands). Then work 1 row with double crochets. Then work double stitches and STRIPES SLEEVE - read explanation above. When 4 rows have been worked in total on sleeve, decrease 1 double crochet in each side of piece - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 7-7-5-5-5-3½ cm = 2¾"-2¾"-2"-2"-1¼" 7-7-9-9-9-11 times in total = 34-36-36-38-40-40 double crochets. Continue to work until sleeve measures approx. 54-54-54-53-52-50 cm = 21¼"-21¼"-21¼"-21"-20½"-19¾". Cut and fasten the yarn. Work the other sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew sleeves to bottom of armhole. Sew underarm and side seam in one - sew in outer loops of stitches so that the seam is flat. NECK EDGE: Work an edge around the neck from mid on top of shoulder with 1 strand light pearl grey and 1 strand medium grey (= 2 strands) as follows: Work 1 single crochet, * 3 chain stitches, skip approx. 1 cm = ⅜", 1 single crochet *, work from *-* around the entire neck, adjust to finish with 3 chain stitches and 1 slip stitch in first single crochet on round, make sure to avoid a tight edge. Cut and fasten the yarn. |
